Who we are

Volgo (“we”, “us”) provides live transcription, translation and AI summaries for in-person talks and events. Questions about this policy: ops@volgo.ai.

What we collect

  • Account data. Your name and email address, and — if you sign in with Google — the basic profile Google shares with us. Hosts, co-hosts and speakers all need an account, because their words are transcribed and attributed to them.
  • Listening without an account. You can listen to an event, read its captions and ask questions without signing up, and we do not create an account for you. Your device keeps a random identifier so the event can tell one attendee from another, plus the first name you type — which the host sees beside the questions you ask.
  • Event content. Events you create (title, speaker, city, schedule, cover image), and — for the people holding the microphone (host, co-hosts, speakers) — a live transcription of their words, attributed to them, together with its translations. This is what produces the event summary, and every recorded party is shown a notice before it happens.
  • Questions and feedback. Questions you submit to an event (the text and the name you give), and any feedback you send us, including voice notes if you record one.
  • Technical data. IP address and basic device information, used for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Anonymous sign-in is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile.

What we do not do

  • We do not record attendees. Listening stores nothing of your voice. If you speak a question aloud, the audio is transcribed in memory and discarded — only the text you then choose to submit is kept.
  • We do not sell personal data, and we show no advertising.

AI processing

Speech and text are processed by AI providers (currently Google, OpenAI and Mistral) solely to deliver transcription, translation, summaries and the sign-language avatar. They process it under their API terms; we do not use your content to train models.

Retention

  • Transcripts. Unless the host chose “Keep the full transcript”, the raw text of an event is deleted automatically once its summary is generated (with a 30-day backstop if no summary could be made). Kept transcripts remain until the host deletes them.
  • Summaries and questions live with the event and are removed when the event or the account that owns it is deleted.
  • Account deletion (Settings → Delete account) erases your information, including your events and their content.

Sharing

Event summaries are emailed to the host and to speakers as links, never attachments — so deleting a transcript really deletes it. A host can additionally share a kept transcript with co-hosts (all of it) or with speakers (each sees only their own words). We use service providers to run Volgo — hosting and database (Railway, Supabase), AI (Google, OpenAI, Mistral), email (Resend), live audio (LiveKit) and abuse protection (Cloudflare) — each receiving only what their role requires. We may disclose data when the law requires it.

Recording and consent

Every party the app can reach is notified before their words are captured: hosts at event creation, co-hosts and speakers when they join, attendees on the event page. Hosts are responsible for informing people who speak near their microphone outside the app — some places, including Florida, require all parties’ consent.

Your choices

  • Speakers can delete their own spoken words from a kept transcript.
  • Hosts can delete an event’s transcript entirely.
  • Anyone can delete their account, or write to us about their data.

Children

Volgo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
